Water Softeners & Drinking Water Filter Systems

Know the Facts About Your Water and How to Treat it

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS)*, 89.3% of US homes have hard water. That makes hard water the single most widespread water problem in American homes today. To check the approximate level of hardness in your area, see the map below. For problem water, Rayne offers a full line of Water Softeners and Water Conditioners for your home, office, or business.
In addition to water hardness, consumers are also growing more and more concerned about the purity and safety of their drinking water. Escalating media reports of contamination or abnormal levels of impurities are causing some consumers to invest in home drinking water filtration systems such as the LINX 140/140T Drinking Water System – or a high quality Rayne Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System.

Since 1928, Rayne has provided Home Water Softeners and Water Treatment Solutions

Since 1928, Rayne has been developing and improving water treatment systems and products such as water softeners, water conditioners, Reverse Osmosis Home Filtration Systems, and Drinking Water Filters. These home water treatment systems are of superior quality, provide substantial value and savings, and are the most environmentally-friendly products in the industry.

Water Softeners: Fact vs. Fiction
There is great confusion in the marketplace about the differences between water softeners and water conditioners. Water Softeners will produce Soft Water. Water Conditioners will produce Conditioned Water.
What does Conditioned Water really mean?
The catchall term "conditioned water" as defined by the WQA* is, "Any water which has been treated by one or more processes to improve the water's usefulness and/or aesthetic quality by reducing undesirable substances or undesirable conditions."
So Conditioned Water can be Soft Water, but not ALL Water Conditioners are able to Soften Water.

Drink Well. Live Well
A recent article from Cordis and the European Commission discusses lithium in drinking water and the health effects and concerns that go along with it. New Swedish research, according to the publication, has found that large quantities of lithium in groundwater can trigger hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism, also known as underactive thyroid, is a condition where there is too little thyroid hormone in the bloodstream in which the body needs to function normally. Inadequate stimulation of cells and organs in the body due to low levels of thyroid hormone causes the symptoms associated with hypothyroidism, which is generally a "slowing-down" of the body's processes. These symptoms include slowed heart rate, tiredness, inability to tolerate cold, mental fatigue, and constipation.
Lithium is used to treat such diseases as bipolar disorder and other depressions. According to the article, "high concentrations of this element were found in villages of the Argentinean Andes Mountains, where [...]
